Oh Canada!

Well, since the last post some things have happened! You may or may not want to read about them, but I am going to write about them, so proceed as you will!

After the cruise we headed northward, with our next destination being New York City! We wanted to visit the Big Apple to see some friends we made on a previous cruise (Patrice and Deonis) who live in Harlem. Which is one of the areas of New York, of which, it turns out, there are many. We found a place to park Vincent just across from Manhatten on the Long Island side. From there we were able to travel around using the ferries and subway, which was awesome! Exploring New York without a car is much easier than many of the cities I have visited, which was perfect for us, because driving Vincent around downtown New York (not to mention trying to park) sounds less fun. The ferry system is quite efficient, and the subway covers a huge area of the city, so we could get anywhere we needed quickly and easily.

Our first day there we visited the Empire State Building, went up to the very top (102nd floor! Crazy!) and enjoyed the amazing view! The next day we did a bit more exploring, checking out the High Line elevated walk, Rockefeller Plaza, and Central Park before meeting up with our friends who showed us an historic mansion and took us to an amazing sandwich shop in Harlem. Then, we headed to Broadway to catch The Book of Mormon, which was fantastic!

After New York was done we headed north again headed for Boston, where my best friend Jeff, and his wife Sarah live. We got to spend several days with them which was awesome! We went for walks, played board games, made some 3D prints, visited a botanical garden, and just had a blast hanging out! Unfortunately it seems like we didn't take any pictures... so, you will just have to trust me that we were there. The good news is that we are going to go back and 3D print some more stuff, so we get to see them again!

And now, what you have all been waiting for (probably?). We passed into Canada and into Julie's ancestral homeland! Her mom's family is from Nova Scotia, and that is where we were headed. But first, some stops in New Brunswick at the Bay of Fundy (the tides there are crazy, it is fundy-mental!) and Prince Edward Island where we saw the area that inspired the Anne of Green Gables books. It was a beautiful and relaxing place, and we enjoyed walking along the beach and seeing the countryside. We even waded into the ocean, but didn't stay in long as it was (not shockingly) quite cold! Before leaving PEI we watched the musical Anne & Gilbert which is put on by a local theater and was very well done!

Our exploration of PEI complete we headed on to the next adventure, Nova Scotia! Which we will discuss (and by discuss I mean I will discuss and you will presumably read about) in the next post!
